On the day of our photoshoot, IWOWD’s team was in search of the perfect muse—someone who could embody the effortless elegance of this lehenga. Our choreographer, filled with excitement, sought inspiration from the CEO’s conversation about a lovely Nepalese girl, their domestic help. Though she chose not to participate, fate had other plans. As destiny would have it, a neighbor’s babysitter, also of Nepalese heritage, stepped into the frame. Her name? Swasthika. A woman who never saw herself as a model became the face of this lehenga, proving that talent and grace know no boundaries.
In Sanskrit, ‘Swasthika’ (स्वस्तिक) is derived from “Su” (सु), meaning good or well, and “Asthi” (असति), meaning to exist or to be. Together, it signifies well-being, auspiciousness, and good fortune—a name as meaningful as the spirit behind this piece. Swasthika’s story reminds us that sometimes, our true potential finds us in the most unexpected ways, just as she found herself in front of the camera, embracing a role she never imagined.
